  40.     ImageDesk is a program to catalog picture directories. By
  41.     this small representants of the pictures, so called thumbnails
  42.     are being generated and internally expanded to objects which
  43.         will include all essential image attributes. Several thumbnail
  44.         objects which corresponding pictures are in the same directory
  45.         could be saved together into a catalog file for being available
  46.         immediately on request. These  files could be saved packed, too
  47.         provided XPK has been installed. The following picture formats
  48.         are currently supported and will be recognized automatically:

  50.     * IFF ILBM (std. palette upto 256 cols, EHB, HAM, HAM8, DEEP)
  51.     * GIF (87a, 89a)
  52.     * JPEG (by the use of Christoph Feck's 'Tower JPEG codec') 
  53.     * PCX (1 bit upto 32 bit)
  54.     * BMP (4,8 & 24 bit, OS/2 and Windows formats, unpacked only)
  55.     * PCD (upto BASE size)
  56.     * PNM (P4, P5 und P6)
  57.     * TARGA (all formats)

  59.     The corresponding picture of a thumbnail object could be shown
  60.         if requested. Therefore two internal viewers, the window- and
  61.         the screen viewer, exists for each above mentioned format.
  62.         CyberGraphics and Picasso special screens are supported, too.
  63.         If you do not like them, it is also possible to instruct
  64.         ImageDesk to use external picture viewers.
